Description

Spirax Sarco strainer is a pipe strainer.

A pipe strainer is a device that serves as a means of mechanically removing solids from a fluid stream. This is achieved by using a pressure element of perforated metal, mesh or wedge wire. 1 inch to 40 microns (0.0016 inch) is a typical range for holding fine particles.

In pipelines, strainers are used to protect downstream machinery such as condensers, cooling systems, pumps, compressors, meters, spray nozzles, generators and steam traps from the adverse effects of deposits, corrosion, pipe deposits or other foreign debris.

How do pipe strainers work?

The process of smoothing the pipeline is very simple.

It doesn’t matter if you use a tee, a simple duplex or a Y-trainer. You must know both the input and the output.

When the strainer is fully attached, liquid flows through the filter housing to the suction section.

As the fluid flows, the strainer catches all foreign material and holds it in place.

This can include seaweed, plastic, large particles, etc. Well-functioning filters successfully block foreign particles.

While filters remove all visible particles in the vapor, it is sometimes necessary to remove smaller particles, for example, in the following cases:

When steam is injected directly into a process that may contaminate the product.
Example: in the food industry and to sterilize process equipment in the pharmaceutical industry
Where dirty steam may cause a product or process batch to be rejected due to staining or retention of visible particles.
Example: sterilizing machines and paper/cardboard machines.
Where minimum particulate emissions from steam humidifiers are required.
Example: Humidifiers used in a “clean” environment.
To reduce the water vapor content, ensure a dry and saturated source.

In such “clean steam” applications, strainers are not suitable and filters must be used.

The filter used in the steam system usually consists of a porous stainless steel filter element.

The sintering process creates a fine porous structure in the stainless steel that removes any particles from the fluid passing through it.

How to choose a strainer STRAINERS steam trap?

Correct industrial filter specifications include knowledge of the system and the forms of pollutants to be maintained.

Industrial strainers are macro filters that vary in particle retention from 0.500″ to 325 mesh (44 microns) in width. Typically we see a scale from 0.250″ to 200 mesh.

Industrial filters must contain particles larger than those suitable for downstream devices.

Too fine a smoothing can cause problems in service and maintenance, leading to premature deposition of the strain medium.

This can increase the cleaning intensity too much and block the flow to the downstream machinery.

The strain rate is usually determined by the process design engineer.

These decisions are generally based on the experience of the process flow engineer and the recommendation of the manufacturer of the equipment covered. The industrial self-filter is an easy-to-use system and can last for many years with limited maintenance.

Application of industrial strainer

Industrial strainers are often used in valves, compressors and pumps.

These are sensitive devices that make the plumbing system more complex and effective.

Additionally, industrial strainers are useful where the medium is heavier or contains chemicals that need to be removed. Industrial strainers are commonly used in industries such as chemical, water treatment, food and petroleum.

Kiasanat is a supplier of strainers such as Spirax Sarco STRAINERS, steam traps, thermodynamic steam traps, thermostatic steam traps, baguette steam traps, free float steam traps, etc.
