free float steam trap

When the free float steam trap is activated, it raises the bimetallic plate and opens the valve. and discharges cold air and condensate as it flows.
As the steam and hot condensate flow into the trap after the primary air and cold condensate have been discharged, the bimetallic plate begins to bend.

When the condensate temperature reaches about 90°C, the steam trap is bent enough to begin normal float operation.
When the condensate arrives, the float rises and the condensate is discharged.

When the condensate flow decreases, the float lowers to close the valve seat opening.

A water seal is always maintained over the orifice to prevent steam loss.

Before steam is supplied, the free float steam trap is cold and the X element contracts, keeping the air valve open.

During start-up, air is discharged through this valve and cold condensate is discharged through the opening.

At the moment when a large amount of condensate enters, the float is completely raised and the valve is fully opened.

As the X element also contracts, the condensate is rapidly and simultaneously discharged from the vent and orifice.

Opening the valve drains the condensate continuously, depending on the condensate flow rate.

The float rises and the hot condensate exits the orifice.

Hot air with steam enters the trap during normal operation, the temperature of element X drops momentarily, causing it to contract, opening the vent and allowing air to escape.

When the trap is cool, a thermostatic capsule (X-Element) contracts and valve (A) opens to continuously vent primary air. As the cold condensate enters the trap, the float rises to allow the condensate to drain through valve (B).

Step 2

How Steam Trap works Fairy flute part two
When all the primary air and cold condensate have been exhausted, the hot condensate heats the X-Element, which closes the valve port (A) before the steam reaches the trap. Condensate entering the trap continues to drain through valve (B).

Step 3

How to operate the steam trap Flute of the third section

Air or residual condensate entering the trap lowers the temperature and shrinks the X element. Valve port (A) opens immediately to discharge air and condensate. When condensate follows at a higher temperature, element X expands and valve port (A) closes.

Step 4

How Steam Trap works Fairy Flute Part IV

When the flow of condensate to the trap stops, the float closes the valve (B), which is always sealed below the surface. The top is filled with steam and the X-Element closes the valve port (A). The trap is then completely sealed, preventing steam leakage.

Advantages of free float steam trap

  • Only one moving part :

The vertical float is the only moving part.

The free float and sealing surface are both manufactured using a high performance process that produces spherical fins that provide excellent sealing performance even under harsh process conditions such as low condensate flow at high pressures and temperatures.

  • Energy saving:

The valve opening is located below the “water level” and uses a water seal to eliminate steam leakage even under low load conditions.

  • Process efficiency:

The free float adjusts quickly to changing load conditions and provides rapid draining of condensate to maintain maximum process efficiency.

Free float without back pressure effect is also ideal for applications where condensate is collected and used elsewhere in the system.

  • Longevity :

The use of free float as the entire sealing surface prevents local wear and increases the life of the steam tank.

An internal filter protects the valve from particles and helps reduce maintenance problems.

  • Quick Start:

All Free-Float Steam Traps are equipped with a channel for automatic air venting during start-up with the desired bimetallic strip or temperature control module that allows cold condensate to drain.
Hot and cold air can be released. And increase the speed better by starting the system and reaching the temperature
