Handwheel

The role of the handwheel is to rotate the stem and insert or remove the plug from the seat, which activates or deactivates the fluid flow.

A valve actuator is an example of a handwheel (the part that controls the movement of the stem and disc).

It is outside the pressure boundary (the pressure caused by the fluid inside the pipe and valve) and hence it is subjected to the pressures that are applied to it only when the valve is working, i.e. the torque produced by turning the handwheel.
Stem

The stem transmits rotary motion from the trolley to the plug, and the power screw on it converts the rotary motion of the trolley into a vertical motion, seating the disc and blocking the flow opening.

The valve stem is attached to the handwheel via four smooth edges at the top and is screwed into the lead screw, which is then locked in place with a nut.

At the bottom, the fork is screwed to the stem and secured with a disc base nut. As a result, the electric screw exerts torsional stresses on the stem.

Globe valve hood

The hood is the part of the valve that closes the opening.

It is a pressure-bearing part that holds the full pressure of the fluid as it passes through the valve body as service loads.

A nail nut holds it in place.

It also serves as a support for the tube, and in this case, it is made of bronze.

The cap is usually made of the same material as the valve body.

It will have service loads on its threads, it will be compressed when the valve is closed and exposed to the full pressure of the fluid flowing through the valve.

This part, like the rest of the parts in contact with sea water, is made of bronze, but stainless steel may be used instead.
